In order to play media files at the best quality, you must change your playback settings to use "Maximum" or "Original" quality. If you do not change these settings, your Plex app will request a transcoded video from the Plex server, which requires extra processing on the Plex server and results in low quality video on your device.
Important: You must change these settings once on every device you use to access Plex.
Click on a device name below for instructions on how to change these settings:
- Roku, Amazon Fire, Android TV, PlayStation, LG, Samsung, Vizio, Xbox
- Mobile (iPhone, Android)
- TV OS
- Desktop (Chrome, Safari, Edge, etc)
Plex apps get updated often, so the screenshots in the instructions above may become outdated, but the steps should remain basically the same.
